Devin Whitten

Senior Software Engineer I

Devin Whitten joined Valor in 2025 and serves as a Senior Software Engineer I on the Labs team.

Prior to Valor, Devin spent five years as a software engineer at Halo Investing, Inc., where he led the data services team. In this role, he developed a wide range of applications for trading and risk analysis, structured product modeling and forecasting, in addition to the design, development and production support of ETL systems across the platform.

Devin’s experience in software development and numerical methods was founded through his academic work in scientific research. At the University of Notre Dame, he earned both a PhD and a Master’s degree in Physics, specializing in computational stellar astrophysics. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computational Physics from Purdue University Northwest, where his interest in large-scale data modeling first took root.

In addition to his technical background, Devin is passionate about music and education. He has held several teaching assistant roles and served as a supplemental instructor throughout his academic career. He also spent over five years teaching guitar and music lessons, and has performed and recorded with numerous musical groups.
