Abdiel Santiago

Managing Director

Abdiel joined Valor in 2025 and serves as Managing Director on the Investor Relations team.

Abdiel has over 24 years of experience across executive sovereign wealth fund management, investment banking, equity research, and financial regulation. Prior to Valor, Abdiel served as the founding CEO/CIO of Panama’s Sovereign Wealth Fund (Fondo de Ahorro de Panamá), where he oversaw global public and private investments and led the Fund’s expansion from $1.2 billion to over $3 billion in assets. Under his leadership, the Fund diversified into private equity, infrastructure, and credit markets; negotiated a major restructuring of sovereign capital contributions; and implemented institutional frameworks for investment governance, asset allocation, and risk management.

Earlier in his career, Abdiel held executive investment research roles at Morgan Stanley in New York, covering energy and industrials (with a combined market cap of approximately $270 billion), and regulatory roles at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. He also proudly served in the United States Air Force.

He is a recipient of the 2022 CIO Industry Innovation Award and currently serves on advisory committees for the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds and multiple private equity funds. He holds an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. from the University of Denver. He is a Board Leadership Fellow of the NACD and a graduate of Stanford Law School’s Directors’ College.
