Jonathan K. Shulkin, Principal

Mr. Shulkin serves as a Principal at Valor. As a Principal, Mr. Shulkin’s responsibilities include investment prospect generation, investment selection, investment analysis, investment structuring, and active management of portfolio companies including working with existing management teams of current portfolio companies. Mr. Shulkin leads Valor’s portfolio management teams in North American Coatings, LLC, Mountain High Resort Associates, LLC, and Sizzling Platter, LLC.

Mr. Shulkin has 11 years combined experience in consulting and private equity investing. Prior to joining Valor in 2001, Mr. Shulkin was part of MG Capital’s Investment and Portfolio Team. During his tenure at MG Capital, Mr. Shulkin worked on acquisition teams focused on executing transactions in the electronic connector industry. Mr. Shulkin served in operational roles at MG Capital portfolio companies, including Chief Operating Officer of Connector Service Corporation’s Plating Division, where he managed the business through 100% growth over a 12-month period. Mr. Shulkin also served as President of Electronic Plating Service and Chief Operating Officer for Amax Plating, Electronic Plating Service, and Associated Plating Company as the divisions doubled in size over 12 months.

Prior to joining MG Capital, Mr. Shulkin worked with Bain and Company, Inc. as an Associate Consultant. He worked in Dallas, Texas and Sydney, Australia for various Fortune 500 clients including Ford Motor Company, American Airlines, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Navistar, in addition to consulting for leveraged buyout firms. Mr. Shulkin’s consulting experience includes portfolio analysis, marketing, joint ventures, operational efficiency, purchasing, and acquisition initiatives.

Mr. Shulkin holds a B.B.A. in Accounting (with honors) from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Shulkin currently serves on the Board of Directors for North American Coatings, LLC, Mountain High Resort Associates, LLC, and Sizzling Platter, LLC. From 2001 through 2003 Mr. Shulkin served as the Chairman of the Board for Associated Plating Company, Inc. Mr. Shulkin served on the Board of Directors for PanCan, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, from 2002 through 2004.
